The Salvation Army is well known for its use of brass music. Janesville has a small brass band that meets on Thursday night at 7 pm and performs every Sunday in our Worship service (10:15 am). All levels of musicians are welcome from just starting out to professional level. Some private lessons are available for those who are interested and participate in our Brass band. Instruments are also available for use, free of charge, with commitment to the program.
Sunday morning worship is led by our praise team, new members are welcome. A brief audition and Sunday morning attendance are required. Praise team positions are available to vocalists, percussion/set, keyboard, guitar and bass guitar players. Rehearsal times can vary.
Singing Company is a choir for children ages 4 through the completion of 5th grade. In this choir they learn basic music theory and how to read music. The songs they sing are often Christian songs with a modern style. Seasonally, the group works toward a large performance such as a musical, often taking place on a Sunday. Parents are encouraged to attend these performances. This choir meets Thursday evenings at 4:30 p.m.
This is a choir for young people in grades 6-12. This choir works on more difficult music and learns their songs by reading printed music. If your child does not know how to read music, do not worry, they can learn by participating in the choir. Music theory is reinforced throughout the rehearsals. Seasonally, this group works towards a large performace such as a musical; speaking and acting parts are often used to add to the performance. This group meets Thursday evenings at 6 p.m.
